I joined MS ITM program in Fall 2016. In my first semester itself, while selecting courses, I had chosen MIS6319 – Enterprise Resource Planning. Till date, I firmly believe it is one of my best decisions. Though I always had interest in ERP, I did not have any industry background in it. Also, I did not know anything about SAP ERP. All the courses I studied in MS ITM helped me not only to enhance my knowledge but also during my search for internships. But that one course – MIS6319 changed my life for better.
I got my first internship in a company that had SAP ERP. During interview, I mentioned about all the assignments (mini real industry scenarios) that I had performed. For someone who had never worked on SAP ERP, to know the concepts and Transaction codes so well, the employers were very impressed. I got the internship. I later pursued TERP 10 certification as I believe the esteemed SAP certification not only adds to knowledge, but that SAP certified badge is an honor. My resume looks even more beautiful as I get to add the SAP certified logo.
My other courses at JSOM also involved SAP technologies and practices like SAP S/4 HANA, BO Reporting. I am also a proud member of SAP Users Group (SUG). I have never missed a single meet-up/conference while I was in Dallas. Every conference helped me to understand how SAP ERP works in other companies through their leaders’ stories. In past 2 years I improved my SAP ERP skills and eventually got a full-time job in the same field. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude towards all the Professors at MS ITM program for their constant support and guidance. And especially to Professor Lou Thompson for designing Enterprise Systems curriculum so awesome that even a novice like me could learn and excel at it.
