My decision to move from India to pursue my master’s degree at The University of Texas at Dallas was driven by a desire to gain practical exposure to enterprise systems and understand how technology supports real business processes.
The MS in Information Technology and Management program gave me exactly that opportunity. Through the Enterprise Systems track, I worked on hands-on SAP business case studies across different modules which helped me connect classroom learning with real-world scenarios. These experiences strengthened my understanding of end-to-end business processes and how data and systems drive decision-making in organizations. One of the most rewarding parts of my journey was working as a Teaching Assistant, where I supported students during practical SAP assignments, clarified concepts, and guided them through complex business case studies. This role not only strengthened my technical foundation but also improved my communication skills and confidence in explaining processes clearly.
Beyond academics, I actively engaged with the SAP User’s Group as a Vice President and collaborated with peers who shared similar interests, which helped me grow both professionally and personally. Balancing academics, responsibilities, and the job search as an international student was challenging, but the supportive learning environment at UTD made a significant difference.
My time at UTD played a key role in helping me secure an opportunity at L’Oréal USA as a Junior Supply Chain Associate. This role aligns closely with my interest in supply chain operations and financial processes and marks an important milestone in my professional journey. The MSITM program at JSOM provided me with strong foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and exposure to industry relevant tools and processes. I would highly recommend this program to students looking to build practical skills and grow into impactful roles within enterprise systems and business operations.
