After working as a software engineer at Tech Mahindra Ltd for 3 years, I’ve gained a lot of experience and skills that are transferrable to any industry. However, I wanted to enhance my technical skills and I also knew that I was lacking knowledge from the business side of things. This was the main factor in my decision to go back to school to obtain my Master’s in Information Technology and Management.

I chose to pursue my Master’s degree the UTD because the program covered a wide range of areas and offered 5 tracks which are highly valued in the market to expand upon. In addition, I had heard great things from the seniors who attended and graduated from the program, especially that they worked on a personal level with their professors. I personally was interested in Analytics and Enterprise Resource Planning tracks as they aligned with my career interests. SAP Users Group at UTD introduced me to the SAP world which had a great impact in shaping my career. This Organization and it’s advisor Prof. Lou Thompson helped me in understanding the current trends in the job market and also helped me gain invaluable knowledge by organizing information and play ground sessions. I served as the Vice President of the club which gave me an opportunity to help my peers and do my part in success of the club.

Courses such as Enterprise Resource Planning, Business Data warehousing, Data Visualization and Predictive Analysis with SAS helped me gain right amount of technical and functional knowledge. These courses played an important role in me securing the Summer internship offer at PrimeSource Building Products which eventually extended for two more semesters. I would like to thank SUG and it’s advisor Prof. Lou Thompson for providing me that opportunity to exhibit my skills by organizing networking sessions.
