Data scientists use advanced statistical modeling techniques to analyze business data and make profitable decisions. Since they use data to make predictions, they require a strong knowledge of data analytics software tools, programming languages such as Python or R and advanced data-visualization skills.
AI/ML Architects use advanced coding and programming skills for data preprocessing, training, fine tuning and deploying advanced machine learning and AI models for addressing specific business needs. They use advanced statistical methodologies, cloud platforms and AI methods of Generative AI and Large language models for extracting insights for business development.
Data Engineers work across firm’s technology services on different projects and in a variety of settings to build systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information. The goal is to make data available in a secure and performant manner to support the technical, operational, and business needs for future business analysis and data-driven decision making.
A cybersecurity analyst protects company hardware, software, and networks from cybercriminals. The analyst’s primary role is to understand company IT infrastructure in detail, to monitor it at all times, and to evaluate threats that could potentially breach the network. The cybersecurity analyst continuously looks for ways to enhance company network security and protect its sensitive information.
Business analysts evaluate company and industry data to find valuable insights for profit making opportunities. This role requires skills of programming, data querying and statistical know-how, along with the ability to use data visualization skills for effective storytelling. Business analysts analyze data, and work with tools and languages such as SQL to extract, transform and load data necessary to make effective data-driven decisions.
The primary role of an analytics consultant is to help a business identify and define business problems and help uncover and understand the data required to provide insights to a company to help a business grow and add value.
Operations analysts focus on the internal processes of a business, which may include product manufacturing and distribution, logistics, inventory management and the general streamlining of business operations to cut costs and improve customer satisfaction and profitability.
Marketing analysts need knowledge of basic marketing concepts, digital marketing, customer analytics and data analytics techniques. Marketers often use tools like Google Analytics, Twitter analytics and other reporting tools to analyze marketing trends and patterns.

How do I get a business analytics and artificial intelligence internship?

The Jindal School requires that all students get an internship to graduate. One or more internships, experiential learning opportunities and community service on your résumé will make you a much more valuable job candidate.

Note to International Students

International students are eligible to work on a curricular internship for a maximum of 12 months while they remain students. Since the Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence is an approved STEM degree program, graduating students are eligible to work for up to 29 months under the OPT program. Please contact the Office of International Student Services for details about these programs.
